Clean Energy in South-East Asia

Clean Energy in South-East Asia

by Dang-Luu Ngo, Hung Nguyen, Long Dinh Nguyen, Le Anh Duc

Southeast Asia is witnessing a significant increase in energy demand due to industrialization and rapid economic growth. To prevent the escalation of carbon emissions, researchers, energy experts, and policymakers in the region are keenly aware that clean energy must become an integral part of economic expansion. With the immense potential for renewable energy, Southeast Asia has an opportunity to make a breakthrough in sustainable development for the future.

This book is compiled by interdisciplinary experts from both industrial and academic fields, providing a systems approach to clean energy deployment in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. It serves as a vital reference for researchers in energy systems, solar (PV), wind power, as well as investors, policymakers, and businesses in renewable energy equipment manufacturing.

The book focuses on the core content of the clean energy sector, providing a comprehensive view of sustainable development solutions. It first delves into wind power, solar power, and smart clean energy systems, including smart grids and microgrids, to optimize the use of renewable energy sources. Additionally, advanced electricity storage and transmission technologies, especially high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission, are introduced to enhance the efficiency of power systems.

A key highlight of the book is the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in power systems, including accurate load forecasting, inertia constant prediction, and data analysis to improve grid stability. Furthermore, it explores optimization methods for system operations, such as harmonic analysis and equipment loss calculations using specialized software, to effectively select protection equipment for electrical systems.

Beyond technology, the book also addresses the application of IoT in sustainable energy development and analyses the impact of policies and market mechanisms on the energy sector, helping to guide strategies for policymakers and businesses. Finally, the book presents a circular economy model for managing waste from solar panels and assesses the impact of clean energy on developing countries, aiming for a greener future.

With a comprehensive approach, this book is not only a research resource but also an essential guide for those who wish to engage in the sustainable energy revolution in Southeast Asia.
