Wind Energy Conversion Systems
An electrical engineering perspective
In order to design efficient and effective wind farms with optimal control processes, electrical engineers must understand the generator types, converter control, system modelling, and the intricacies of how these elements work together as a functional system.
Wind Energy Conversion Systems: An electrical engineering perspective presents the principles, analysis, and design aspects of wind energy conversion. Based on the author team's extensive teaching and research experience in electrical engineering for wind energy conversion, the book offers carefully organised coverage of the topic, and also includes critical thinking questions, solved examples, supplementary problems, and multiple-choice questions.
To ensure both breadth and depth of coverage, the book incorporates topics essential to the curricula of various universities worldwide. The material is presented in a structured and pedagogical manner, with a strong emphasis on conceptual clarity. Fundamental principles and operating concepts are explained using simple language and illustrative examples, making the book accessible to students while remaining rigorous.
Nine chapters cover wind energy principles, power transmission, electrical generators and power electronics converters, modelling and control of wind energy conversion, advanced control techniques, power quality and grid connection.
Wind Energy Conversion Systems: An electrical engineering perspective equips electrical engineers with the skills to work at the forefront of wind energy technology and research. The book is also a valuable reference for researchers, graduate and postgraduate students considering a career in the field, and anyone lecturing or developing courses on wind power.
